Meteorologist Greg Pollak is joining WTEN ABC 10 in Albany, NY.

Greg joins WTEN from WGGB ABC 40 in Springfield, MA where he worked as a fill in meteorologist since January 2014.

Before that he had been the weekday morning and noon meteorologist at Binghamton, NY CBS station WBNG-TV since January 2012.

Greg was born and raised in Central New Jersey where he endured almost every kind of weather phenomenon growing up. When he was seven years old, he lived through the paralyzing and crippling blizzard of 1996 where nearly three feet of snow blanketed the region. This anomaly of nature enticed Greg’s curiosity, giving him reason to discover the science behind these conditions and thus commenced his passion for weather. Greg took this passion and turned it into his career.

Greg earned his Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Meteorology from the University at Albany in Albany, New York. While in college, he interned at both WNYT in Albany, New York and NBC 40 (WMGM) in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Shortly after graduation, Greg traveled to Fargo, North Dakota to work at KVRR (FOX-affiliate). He forecasted in one of the most diverse and volatile climates in the nation. He experienced two true blizzards and wind chills as low as -50°.

Greg’s next job took him back to the east coast. In January of 2012, he became the Morning and Noon Meteorologist for WBNG in Binghamton, New York. He has gained valuable experience forecasting the difficult weather phenomenon of lake-effect snow. He integrates social media in his weathercasts where he connects with viewers on a personal level. On a consistent basis, he visits local elementary and middle schools making presentations about meteorology.
