"I am lucky enough to have accepted a job closer to home at Western Mass News as a reporter and anchor!" Mary Cate said in a statement on her Facebook page. "I am so excited for this next step on my journalism adventure."

She replaces Brittany Decker who was recently promoted to weekday morning and noon news anchor.

Mary Cate joins Western Mass News from KFYR-TV NBC/FOX 5 in Bismarck, ND, where she started he professional broadcast career. She spent two years as an energy reporter, as well as anchor of the 10pm news. Of her time in North Dakota, she says "In the past two years I have been on top of a power plant, in the middle of a coal mine pit, and have learned so much about all things energy. I had a chance to learn from the best and made friends that became family. It has been a privilege to share your stories, and I will definitely miss it."

She has also spent time interning at WFXT-TV FOX 25 in Boston, first as a assignment desk intern in 2012, then later as a web production intern in 2013. In addition, she worked at her college television station EIV News.

A native of North Andover, MA, Mary Cate is a 2013 graduate of Emerson College where she achieved a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.

Mary Cate starts at Western Mass News on October 12.
