The news team at CBS 3 Springfield has been honored by the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association for excellence in covering a major breaking news story that brought part of Baystate Medical Center to a standstill.
CBS 3 Springfield won first place for best spot news coverage and for keeping viewers informed during the hourslong standoff outside Baystate Medical Center's emergency room last February.
CBS 3's Tim Callery was awarded first place for best feature story with his coverage of a Springfield man facing foreclosure, who received help from a good Samaritan.
The station was also honored with a merit award for coverage of the annual Fenway Westfield event.
