The Radio Television Digital News Association has announced the 2015 winners of their prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards.

The RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow’s pursuit of excellence in journalism embodies the spirit of the awards that carry his name. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the electronic news profession.

WCVB-TV ABC 5 in Boston is the top winner in the large market section with 5 awards. Cable outlet News 12 Connecticut in Norwalk comes in second with 4 awards.

In the small market section, WJAR-TV NBC 10 in Providence wins the top award.

The winners of these regional awards will advance to the national competition. Results from the national competition will be announced in June. The winners will receive an Edward R. Murrow Award trophy, which are presented to news organizations, not individuals. The Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City, will take place on October 12, 2015.
