Sera Congi Joins WCVB NewsCenter 5

Sera Congi is moving up the dial one channel to WCVB-TV.

Most recently, Sera was a general assignment reporter for WBZ-TV, where she had been since 2005.

In October WBZ had announced that, along with Joe Shortsleeve and Michael Rosenfield, Sera had been let go from the station.

“Their contracts are not being renewed,” a station spokesperson told the Boston Herald. “We thank them for their contributions to the station and wish them well in the future.”

Kimberly Bookman Moving Up the Dial to WHDH

Kimberly Bookman announced on Twitter today that she is joining WHDH 7 News in August as a general assignment reporter.

Kimberly has worked as a freelance reporter for WCVB-TV’s NewsCenter 5 since 2009, reporting stories from locations all over New England.

In 2010, she was part of the Emmy-winning teams reporting on the "Mattapan Massacre" and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority water main break.

Among many other memorable stories in 2011, Kimberly has covered the Bruins Stanley Cup championship win, the Western Massachusetts tornado and the capture of Boston's most notorious gangster, Whitey Bulger.

Meteorologist Pamela Gardner Joining WBZ

Pamela Gardner is joining Boston's WBZ-TV as the weekend morning meteorologist.

Pamela comes to WBZ from WISH-TV in Indianapolis, IN where she has held the same position since 2011.

CBS announced in August that WISH, a LIN media station, would lose its CBS affiliation in January 2015. Currently the station is planning to go independant and is adding more news.

Previously, She was the morning meteorologist for WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, IN, where she started her career.

With Cox, FOX 25 in Retrans Dispute with Verizon FiOS

Cox Media Group is currently in a dispute for retransmission fees with Verizon FiOS, which effects WFXT-TV FOX 25 in Boston.

The existing agreement with Verizon FiOS to carry FOX 25 has expired, and if no deal is reached by 3am on Thursday, November 27, 2014 (which is Thanksgiving,) FOX 25 could potentially be pulled from the FiOS lineup.

Both Cox and Verizon are blaming each other for the dispute, which Verizon says is over a steep increase in carriage fees.

"Despite what you may be hearing from the new owner, Cox Media Group, Verizon has no intentions of dropping [WFXT-TV]."

Jim Polito Out at FOX 25

Jim Polito announced that he has left WFXT-TV FOX 25 in Boston.

"Last Tuesday marked my last commentary on FOX 25. It was incredible to work in the Boston market during one of the most amazing news cycles since the Great Molasses Flood of 1919. It was a pleasure and honor to work with some very talented people. And of course, it was all of the viewer support that made my experience positive and meaningful" Polito said in a statement.

He continued "I am now in the unique position to have a more creative approach and greater editorial control over my news commentary, political opinions, personal views and attitude. I am rising to meet this fantastic new challenge! In two weeks, I will begin the next phase of my career. I treasure all the people who look to me for entertainment, information, news and opinion. I hope you'll follow me on the next big ride. Ritorno al futuro!"

Todd Gutner Joining Portland's WCSH

As New England One first told you, Todd Gutner is re-joining WCSH-TV (NBC) in Portland, ME and sister station WLBZ-TV (NBC) in Bangor, ME as Chief Meteorologist.

"It's out! I'm thrilled to announce that my family and I are returning to Portland, ME and rejoining the NewsCenter family" Todd said through a tweet. He continued "I honestly can't wait to get started, see old friends and meet new ones. See you soon Maine!"

Todd was most recently the weekday morning and noon meteorologist on Boston's WBZ-TV.

Todd joined WBZ-TV from WCSH-TV/WLBZ-TV in 2007 where he served as weekend meteorologist for the 6PM and 11PM newscasts.

Butch Stearns Back at FOX 25 Boston

Butch Stearns has today returned to the job he left in 2009 after his contract was not renewed by WFXT-TV. He had been at FOX 25 for 10 years from 1999 to 2009, and was the Sports Director.

FOX 25 has not yet confirmed whether he has re-joined the station permanently, or is just filling since Brendan Fitzgerald left.

Butch was most recently the Chief Customer Officer at  The Pulse Network, a digital media and event solutions company. He also hosts a sports talk show on WEEI radio, which he has done for over 18 years.

He has also worked for Comcast Sportsnet New England, WMAQ-TV in Chicago, WDFN Sports Radio Detroit, KFAN Sports radio Minneapolis, Sporting News Radio Network and KAAL TV in Rochester, MN.

Alison Morris Leaving FOX CT

Alison Morris is leaving FOX CT News, she has announced. Her last day will be this Friday.

Alison joined WTIC in September 2010 as an anchor & consumer reporter. She was promoted to 5pm, 10pm & 11pm anchor in September 2011.

Alison was named to the Hartford Business Journal's "40 Under 40, Class of 2014" in July.

She came to FOX CT from KDKA-TV where she was a reporter for 5 years. Prior to that she was a stock market reporter/producer for CNBC Europe, and an Intern for CBS Sports.

Monica Cryan Joins NBC CT as Weekend Meteorologist

Monica (Tassoni) Cryan has joined WVIT-TV NBC Connecticut as the weekend 6pm & 11pm meterologist. She started on June 21, 2014.

Recently married, Monica comes to NBC CT from WSFA-TV in Montgomery, AL where she was the noon and 4pm meteorologist. She left WSFA in April to follow her husband who took a new job. Before that, she was at KTAB-TV in Abilene, Texas where she was the early morning and noon newscast meteorologist.

Monica is a native of Philadelphia, PA and went to Penn State, one of the top meteorology schools in the country, where she earned a BA degree in Meteorology. She was very involved in Penn State's meteorology program, taking part in the Campus Weather Service, PSN, and Weather World.

Meteorologist Erika Martin Leaving WTNH

WTNH-TV Storm Team 8 meteorologist Erika Martin is leaving the station, she says.

"Well CT, this is it" WTNH meteorologist Erika said, "My very last forecast for News 8!"

Erika joined News 8's Good Morning Connecticut Weekend in May of 2012, and moved to weeknights and became Chief Meteorologist in October of 2012.

"It is a bittersweet goodbye, because I love CT so much and am honored to forecast for you" Erika said, "I am going to follow my dreams and grow as a meteorologist."

Erika is originally from Rocky Hill, Connecticut and grew up in New York as well as Massachusetts where she attended one of New England's most prestigious boarding schools.

Bri Eggers Joining WHDH as Weekend Evening Meteorologist

WHDH news director Linda Miele has announced that Bri Eggers will be joining the station as a weekend evening meteorologist in an internal e-mail sent to staff.

"Bri’s been forecasting in her home state of Idaho at the ABC affiliate" Miele said, "She is very excited to come to Boston and take on Nor’easters and snowstorms."

A source at the station says Chris Lambert will move to weekend mornings, instead of being the sole meteorologist on weekend mornings and evenings.

Bri joins WHDH from KIVI-TV channel 6 in Boise, ID where she is currently the morning forcaster for "Good Morning Idaho."

Bri is a 2008 graduate of San Diego State University where she studied theatre arts.

Amanda Grace Leaving WHDH

7 News anchor Amanda Grace has announced her exit from WHDH-TV 7 News Boston in an internal e-mail sent to staff by news director Linda Miele.

Amanda started at the station in October 2008 as a general assignment reporter, coming to the station from XETV channel 6 in San Diego. She was named anchor of the 4pm, 4:30pm & 5:30pm newscasts in November 2011, and also reports for the 10pm & 11pm broadcasts.

Prior to that, Amanda worked at WSET in Roanoke/Lynchburg, Virginia, as an anchor, reporter and producer.  She's also spent time as a general assignment reporter at KSNT in Topeka, Kansas, and in the Chicago bureaus of NBC Nightly News and Fox News Channel.

Shannon Mulaire Leaving FOX 25

In the first personnel move since Cox Media Group took over, FOX 25 morning news anchor Shannon Mulaire has announced that she is leaving the station.

"Goodbye and thank you all for a wonderful 5 years in Boston! Baby #2 and family call in CT. Tough to leave my coworkers, but the time is right. Wishing you all the best!" she said on Facebook.

Shannon joined FOX 25 in 2010 as a general assignment reporter, and was also the 10pm & 11pm weekend anchor before moving to weekday mornings.

Before making her move to Boston, Shannon reported for WTVT in Tampa and WFTX in Fort Mayer, Florida. Shannon speaks Spanish and has spent time studying abroad in Mexico and Spain.

Doug "VB" Goudie Out at FOX 25 - Updated

First on New England One - In one of the first changes since Cox Media Group took over WFXT-TV FOX 25, Doug "VB" Goudie was let go after this morning's newscast.

“Their philosophy of news was very different, it was nothing I could do, nothing I wanted to do, so by mutual agreement I’m no longer working at Fox 25” Goudie told the Boston Herald.

Goudie was the popular "commentator" on FOX25 Morning News for the past 11 years.

His daily opinions pushed the boundaries of a regular news show format, and were often controversial which is not within the way Cox runs its news departments.

“I had a very good run and I’m very proud of what I did there,” he said. “I worked with great people.”
