Jennifer Joas has joined WVIT-TV NBC 30 (NBC Connecticut) in Hartford as a morning reporter.

"We are pleased to welcome Jennifer Joas to NBC Connecticut" said stations spokesperson Laura Gremelsbacker to New England One. She tells us that Jennifer will report weekdays from 4:30-7am on NBC Connecticut News Today.

Jennifer joined NBC Connecticut from WFMZ-TV, an independent news station serving the Lehigh Valley, Berks County, Easton and Philadelphia regions of Pennsylvania. She had been a general assignment reporter for the past two years at the stations Reading newsroom, has reported on the challenges facing Berks County, including the people living in Reading, one of the poorest cities in America.

Prior to WFMZ, Jennifer spent three years at NBC North Dakota, first as the 6pm news anchor and reporter at KUMV-TV in Williston; and later as the 10pm news anchor and energy reporter at KFYR-TV in Bismarck. During her time in North Dakota, Jennifer reported on stories that impacted the local community, such as learning the ins and outs of the Bakken oil boom, including the practices of hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling. She also reported extensively on the challenges the communities faced due to the rapid growth. While there, she also produced and anchored a one-hour special that won her two Eric Sevareid Awards through the Northwest Broadcast News Association.

During college, Jennifer was a on-air reporter for WNYE-TV, a a non-commercial educational, independent television station located in New York City. She has also interned at WMGM-TV (then an NBC affiliate) in Atlantic City, NJ; and at KYW-TV in Philadelphia.

A native of Southern New Jersey, Jennifer attended Hofstra University on Long Island and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism in 2010.
