Catalina Trivino has joined NBC Connecticut as a general assignment reporter.

Catalina said that she was "so humbled and excited by another opportunity that has opened its doors to me" on her Facebook page in March about the move. "I'm about to embark on a new journey to continue reporting for the network-owned station, NBC Connecticut" she said.

Catalina joins NBC Connecticut from WAKA-TV CBS 8/WNCF-TV ABC 32, the Alabama News Network, in Montgomery, AL where she was most recently a lead news reporter. She also had her own franchise segment "Taking Action Against Crime," which covered crime prevention and crime stoppers stories. Before being promoted to lead reporter, Catalina ran her own newsroom as the South Alabama Bureau Chief Reporter and covered the south and central regions of the state.

A native of Los Angeles, Catalina is a 2012 graduate of the University of West Georgia in Carrollton where she studied mass communications and Spanish. In addition to Spanish, Catalina is also fluent in French.

During college, Catalina worked at her college television station as the news director, and an assignment editor before that. She also spent time as a staff writer and reporter at The Times-Georgian Newspaper, and as a staff writer at The West Georgian Newspaper.

Catalina started at NBC Connecticut on April 13.
