Shirly Chan is moving on from WVIT-TV NBC 30 (NBC Connecticut) in Hartford, New England One has learned.

NBC Connecticut's Director of Community & Public Relations Laura Gremelsbacker told New England One in and email that she "can confirm that Shirley Chan no longer works at NBC Connecticut."

Shirley was most recently the morning news anchor for NBC Connecticut Today. She joined NBC CT in 2010 as the weekend morning anchor, and filled in on the weekday evening news while Keisha Grant was on maternity leave. Shirley was promoted to weekday mornings in an anchor shuffle at the station when Keisha Grant returned last August.

Prior to joining NBC CT, Shirley spent four years as a general assignment reporter at WFXT-TV FOX 25 in Boston. While in Boston, she covered stories all over New England as well as major news events, including the death of Senator Ted Kennedy, the Boston Marathon and the Clark Rockefeller trial. Her work at FOX 25 earned her multiple Emmy nominations, including "Outstanding Achievement" as an anchor and "Outstanding Feature Reporter."

Shirley's first on-air position was at WWLP-TV NBC 22 in Springfield, MA where she was an anchor and reporter. She also did consumer and investigative stories for the 22 News I-Team, and earned an Associated Press Award during her time there.

Before she started he career in front of the camera, Shirley was a producer behind the scenes at NBC News in New York City. She spent most of her time at NBC News at The TODAY Show, where she was a segment producer. As a producer with Today, Shirley has traveled extensively to cover stories. She’s been on the frontlines of breaking news in small towns across America, traveled around the world for "Where in the World is Matt Lauer" segments, and field produced for two different Olympic Games.

A native of New York City, Shirley is a graduate of New York University, where she earned degrees in both journalism and political science.
