First on New England One. Anchor changes were announced in the WVIT-TV NBC Connecticut newsroom today that take long time anchor Lisa Carberg off the anchor desk.

Lisa began her NBC Connecticut career back in 1995 as the weekend 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. anchor. After four successful years, Lisa hit the national stage with Fox News Channel in New York, where she worked as a news anchor and daytime host. Lisa returned to NBC Connecticut in 2002, where she served as the weekend anchor and also contributed as a consumer reporter for the station. She currently anchors the 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. newscasts.

Lisa will now focus on her "Be Healthy" segments, and will be reporting consumer based stories both health related and not on a full-time basis. This is being done to "strengthen one of our pillars of success, to tell engaging enterprise stories, which up until now have just been our Troubleshooters pieces."

“I love NBC Connecticut, it’s where I’ve proudly spent 15 years of my career,” Lisa Carberg told the Hartford Courant. “The station has been wonderful and flexible with my family and my commute from the shoreline and I am grateful for that,” she said.” I work with a great team and I look forward to continuing to put out a good product for our viewers every day.”

Lisa is being replaced on the anchor desk by Kerri-Lee Mayland who has been at the station since 2010, and has been the morning anchor since 2012.

Before coming to NBC Connecticut home, Kerri-Lee spent nearly a decade in Philadelphia, where she was a main evening anchor but also anchored Good Day Philadelphia, and launched the 11 a.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts.

The early evening news team is now Brad Drazen and Kerri-Lee Mayland, who a few months ago were co-anchors in the mornings. Kerri-Lee will also continue to anchor the news at 11 a.m. The 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts will stay the same with Gerry Brooks and returning-from-maternity-leave Keisha Grant sharing the anchor duties.

For the weekday morning news, Shirley Chan is replacing Kerri-Lee Mayland, and will be co-anchoring 4:30-7am with Todd Piro.

As for all of these changes, WVIT news director Matt Piacente told TVSpy he was going to "try 11:00 a.m. anchor Kerri-Lee Mayland in Carberg’s spot at 5:00 p.m. and move Shirley Chan to weekday mornings." But Piacente added, nothing was “permanent right now.”

An inside source tells New England One that Amanda Raus & Tara Joyce and "possibly a few others" will either "rotate on weekend mornings or each be given a day."

The change is expected to go into effect starting on August 11.

The new weekday anchor line up is as follows:

  • Mornings: Todd Piro & Shirley Chan
  • 11 a.m.: Kerri-Lee Mayland
  • 5 p.m. & 5:30 p.m.: Brad Drazen & Kerri-Lee Mayland
  • 6 p.m. & 11 p.m.: Gerry Brooks & Keisha Grant
