The May Nielsen rating period ended last week and the market leader, WFSB Channel 3 had a dominant performance. The CBS affiliate was #1 in every newscast and showed year to year growth in most time periods.Here is a summary:
- Eyewitness News was #1 4:30 – 5AM Monday - Friday. WFSB was up 10% from last year and more than doubled the household ratings of its closest competitor.
- Eyewitness News was #1 5-5:30AM Monday - Friday and up 9% from last year. They also produced more than double the household ratings of the competition.
- Eyewitness News was #1 6-7AM Monday - Friday.
- Eyewitness News was #1 at Noon and increased its share by 12%.
- Eyewitness News dominated the early evening newscasts at 5PM, 5:30PM and 6PM Monday - Friday winning each half hour. WFSB beat the closest competitor by 57% at 5:30PM and held an almost 3 point rating lead over its closest competitor from 6 – 6:30PM
- Eyewitness News finished the news day #1 at 11PM.
Other ratings highlights for WFSB Channel 3 in May include:
- Better Connecticut showed strong year to year growth in ratings and share from May 2012 and was #1 at 3PM.
- Channel 3 had 12 of the top 20 programs in primetime.
- The Channel 3 Eyewitness News Facebook page grew to nearly 195,000 likes.
