WBZ News is expanding its weekday 10pm newscast on sister-station WSBK-TV MY 38 to weekends, New England One has learned.

The hour-long WBZ News at 10pm will now air 7 days a week. Originally a 30-minute newscast, WBZ News at 10pm expanded to an hour on September 29, 2014.

CBS Boston Director of Communications Kerri Landry tells New England One that the weekend anchor line-up will remain the same with the addition of the 10pm show.

Kate Merrill will solo anchor on Saturdays, and will be joined by Liam Martin on Sundays.

The expansion to weekends brings WBZ in line with the two other 10pm newscasts in the Boston market. The 10pm shows on both WHDH-TV (aired on WLVI-TV) & WFXT-TV run 7 days per week. In New Hampshire, which is part of the Boston television market, WMUR-TV only airs its 30-minute 10pm news during the week. NH1 News on WBIN-TV, which has an hour-long newscast at 10pm during the week, airs a 30-minute broadcast on weekends.

The weekend version of WBZ News at 10pm starts on August 29.
