Cox Media Group's WFXT-TV FOX 25 News has announced nine new on-air hires since December 2014.  The new anchors and reporters are part of CMG Boston’s ongoing commitment to build on the station’s current success and increase local newsgathering resources across all broadcast and digital platforms.

“Our talented team of broadcast journalists continues to grow and will provide New Englanders with more breaking news, weather and daily investigative reports,” said FOX25 Vice President and General Manager Tom Raponi. “We are making a major commitment to providing viewers with the best journalism and covering the most important, impactful news stories across all our communities.”

Two anchor teams, a meteorologist, traffic reporter and three reporters will make up Boston’s largest television morning news team.  Daniel Miller will anchor FOX25 Morning News from 4 to 6 a.m. alongside Sorboni Banerjee and serve as a reporter for the later hours of the morning newscast.  Miller comes to FOX25 from WISH-TV in Indianapolis where he was an anchor and reporter for the last 10 years.  Banerjee, who has been with FOX25 since 2012, will also report for later hours of FOX25 Morning News.

Sara Underwood, formerly a part-time Anchor and Reporter at FOX25, has joined the station full-time to anchor alongside Gene Lavanchy from 6 to 10 a.m.  Underwood first joined FOX25 in 2008 and previously anchored for eight years at WBZ-TV.  Lavanchy has been with the station since 2003 when he helped launch the newscast.

FOX25 Morning News will also have a full-time traffic anchor.  Julie Grauert, who is currently a reporter for NY1 and previously reported on traffic conditions for WPIX in New York, will help viewers navigate through their morning commute.

Two new reporters will join the morning team.  Jessica Reyes, who has been a part-time reporter at the station, will now be a full-time reporter.  Michael Henrich, who is currently a reporter and fill-in anchor at WXIN-TV in Indianapolis, will begin with FOX25 in February.

“We will have the most anchors, reporters and photographers every morning, making sure viewers get valuable information as they start their day,” said FOX25 News Director Lee Rosenthal.  “We really wanted to make sure we made the biggest commitment possible with FOX25 Morning News airing for six hours and being the only local news option in the 7 to 9 a.m. time period.”

FOX25 is also adding resources to its newsgathering efforts for its evening newscasts.  Two Boston area natives are among the additions.  Robert Goulston, who grew up in Quincy and has worked at WFSB in Hartford for the last six years, is joining FOX25 as a General Assignment Reporter.  Medford native and Boston College graduate Kerry Kavanaugh comes to FOX25 as an Investigative Reporter from CMG sister station WSB in Atlanta.

Also joining the reporter ranks is Katie Burcham.  Burcham comes to FOX25 from CMG sister station WSOC in Charlotte, where she received numerous awards, including an Edward R. Murrow Award for her investigative series on well water laced with toxic levels of arsenic.

Finally, FOX25 is increasing its commitment to local sports coverage.  Bryan Salmond will be a Weekend Sports Anchor and Sports Reporter for the station.  Salmond comes from WWL-TV in New Orleans, where he covered professional, college and high school sports for the last three years.
