WCVB Channel 5 has been awarded a prestigious national Gracie Award by The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM).

A NewsCenter 5 report, "Food Truck Fighting Hunger," won in the TV - Local Market Outstanding Soft News Feature category. For over forty years, the Gracie Awards have recognized exemplary programming created by women, for women and about women in all facets of media and entertainment, as well as individuals who have made inspirational contributions to the industry. WCVB has been honored with Gracie Awards in eight out of the past ten years.

Food Truck Fighting Hunger: WCVB has a regular segment called, "5 For Good." It's the station’s ongoing effort to highlight people helping others in communities across Massachusetts. In this story, reporter Erika Tarantal features a local couple that is determined to solve the hunger problem in its town -- the largest town in America. One of their tools is a food truck, named Daniel's Table, that goes around feeding primarily children, but also adults. They serve up thousands of meals each week, in part, using proceeds from the cafe that they own. The story also uncovers the very personal and emotional story behind the name of the food truck.
