"And before we go, we do have an announcement for our viewers in New England" said anchor Peter Alexander who was filling in for Lester Holt, "starting this Sunday, January 1, there will be a new NBC station in Boston. If you're looking for Nightly News or any other NBC programs, you'll find them on channel 10 on most cable providers in Boston. Again, that's starting this Sunday, New Year's Day."
WHDH owner Edmund Ansin must have been thrilled about NBC's reminder, which aired before the stations 7pm newscast.
The much talked about NBC affiliation switch between WHDH and NBC Boston (WBTS) takes place early Sunday morning at 3am. The first NBC network program that will air is "Sunday Today with Willie Geist" at 8am.
