WCVB Channel 5, Boston's News Leader and local ABC affiliate, announces new and expanded Anchor/Reporter assignments beginning Monday, November 28, 2016.
Emily Riemer has been named Medical Reporter for NewsCenter 5 and will continue to co-anchor the weekday EyeOpener newscasts (4:30-7AM) with Randy Price.
Erika Tarantal will expand her role to become a regularly contributing Reporter/Producer for Chronicle while continuing as the franchise reporter for “5 for Good.” Tarantal will continue to co-anchor NewsCenter 5 Midday, now with Antoinette Antonio.
Antoinette Antonio, co-anchor of the weekend EyeOpener newscasts, will now join the weekday NewsCenter 5 EyeOpener team as an anchor as well as co-anchor of NewsCenter 5 Midday with Erika Tarantal.
Shayna Seymour will become the weekend EyeOpener co-anchor with Doug Meehan beginning Saturday, December 3, and she will continue her role as a Reporter/Producer for Chronicle.
Janet Wu will step back from a full-time reporting role, and will continue through the 2018 Election season as co-anchor of WCVB’s Sunday morning political show On The Record and as a consultant to NewsCenter 5 on politics in the Bay State.
Julie Loncich; long-time, local journalist and Massachusetts native, is returning to WCVB as a reporter for NewsCenter 5 beginning Tuesday, November 15.
“These expanded anchor and reporter assignments are a testament to the depth of talented local journalists at WCVB,” said Bill Fine, WCVB President and General Manager. “Local viewers will benefit as we maximize and integrate the resources and expertise of our extraordinary journalists across all newscasts and Chronicle.”

“We wholeheartedly welcome Julie Loncich back to NewsCenter 5,” added Fine. “I only wish we had a full-time job available a few years ago when she was working freelance here at WCVB, but I am thrilled Julie is returning ‘home’ now.”
“Having had the chance to work with Julie previously, we know first-hand what a strong reporter she is,” continued Vrees. “She’s been a highly-regarded journalist in the Boston market for many years who knows the community, and her return to our expert news team will advance our leadership position.”
