Cherise Leclerc has joined WMUR ABC 9 in Manchester, New Hampshire as a reporter and anchor.

Cherise joins WMUR from Western Mass News (WGGB ABC 40/FOX 6, WSHM CBS 3) in Springfield, Massachusetts where she was most recently the 4pm news anchor.

"This is my community and I've loved being out there and meeting people," she told The Republican newspaper. "I'm excited to head to New Hampshire, but saying goodbye isn't going to be easy."

She added "It'll be good to take my lessons from here to New Hampshire, but also to learn from the experienced reporters at that station," Leclerc said. "It is the No. 1 station in the country in terms of political coverage, so I'm excited to be a part of that and glad I'll still be here in New England."

During her time at Western Mass News, Cherise was part of the team that won a National Edward R. Murrow Award for the coverage of the June 2011 tornado.

She has also been recognized by the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association for her reporting on fallen police officers at National Police Week in Washington, D.C., and was recently honored by Western Mass Women's Magazine after being voted as the Top Television Personality in Western Massachusetts and named as one of the 40 under Forty stars of BusinessWest Magazine, 2015 edition.

She anchored the breaking news coverage of an armed standoff at Baystate Medical Center and was first to report important information to viewers. Cherise and the team were honored with Best Spot News coverage by the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association.

Using her sources, she was the first in the nation to break the story that a murder weapon linked to Aaron Hernandez was found in Longmeadow.

Prior to joining Western Mass News with the merger of WSHM & WGGB in 2015, Cherise was the main anchor on WSHM's CBS 3 Springfield News. She joined WSHM as an intern in 2011, and was later hired as a general assignment reporter before becoming main anchor.

Cherise has also interned at Fox News Channel in New York City, and WGBY-TV in Springfield.

A native of Hampden, MA, Cherise is a 2011 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in communications.
