WHDH-TV Boston today announced that the station has won the August 2014 ratings race in the Adults 25-54 demographic for all newscasts.
"7 News achieved top ratings during the month of August in the all-important demographic of Adults 25-54. The station led the market with the #1 newscast at 6AM, 9AM, 12Noon, 4PM, 5PM, 5:30PM, 6PMand 11PM. The Adult 25-54 demographic is the one most used by advertisers to set advertising rates. In addition, NBC's Today Show and NBC Nightly News continued to be the number one choice for viewers in the Boston area."
"We are very excited about our ratings success in so many time periods. Clearly, when it comes to news, viewers turn to WHDH," said Robert "Bubba" Burns, Vice President and General Manager of WHDH-WLVI.
He continued "With another election season ahead and new programming on NBC, the station is well-positioned as we head into the fall. We look forward to an outstanding year."
WHDH does not release any numbers or methods, so it is not known how close they are to any other station, or how the ratings were interpreted.
Will their ratings gain continue? Only time will tell.
