Emmy winning news anchor Kathryn Hauser has joined WBZ-TV as anchor of the station’s weekday morning and noon newscasts. In addition, WBZ-TV AccuWeather meteorologist Danielle Niles will also join the WBZ-TV Morning (M-F, 4:30-7 a.m.) and Noon News team. The announcements were made today by Mark Lund, President and General Manager for CBS Boston’s WBZ-TV and myTV38 (WSBK-TV). Hauser and Niles will assume their new roles beginning Monday, September 1.

“Kathryn is an outstanding journalist with deep connections to the New England region, and will be a great addition to the ‘BZ News team. Danielle’s local roots, expertise as a meteorologist, and warm on-air presentation will be perfect for the morning newscast. We are thrilled to have them joining our morning team and look forward to having them contribute to the growth and success of our newscasts,” said Lund. “These changes will also give us the opportunity to make additional anchor reassignments that will allow us to bolster our enterprise and investigative reporting, content development, and commitment to the local community.”

Hauser joins WBZ-TV News from News 12 Connecticut, where she has been weekday morning anchor since 2009. Before News 12, Hauser was a reporter at FOX23 News in Albany, New York. She began her distinguished career as a broadcast journalist at WLNY-TV on Long Island, New York. She is a graduate of New York’s Siena College.

Niles has been the weekend morning meteorologist for WBZ-TV News since November 2013. She joined WBZ-TV from New England Cable News, where she spent five years as weekday morning meteorologist. Before that, Niles was a forecaster at Weather Services International in Andover, MA, where she provided forecasts for private companies. Niles is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts/Lowell where she earned her bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science. She then went on to earn a master’s degree in meteorology at Florida State University.
