With a ribbon-cutting at the NH 1 Media Center on Church Street in Laconia, NH on Thursday Bill Binnie's new New Hampshire One News Network is getting closer.

Binnie's New Hampshire media empire consists of WBIN-TV in Derry and 17 FM and AM radio stations around the state operating from studios in Manchester, Nashua, Concord, Lebanon and Laconia. The media center at 51 Church Street is housed in the building that last served as the police station and will be home to WEMJ-AM (1490) and WLNH-FM (98.3) as well as the Lakes Region news bureau of the NH 1 Network. Manager Mike Trombly said that approximately 15 people will be working at the center in on-air, sales and administrative positions.

Binnie also told The Laconia Daily Sun that the company has also moved into renovated space in Concord (which will be the main NH1 Media Center), where it operates from a former elementary school, and Portsmouth.

Binnie said that WBIN-TV will begin airing evening news at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. as an alternative to WMUR-TV. He said a news team of experienced television journalists has been assembled from the ranks of CNN and the three networks — ABC, NBC and CBS. Bureaus in Laconia, Portsmouth and Lebanon will contribute stories from the Lakes Region, Seacoast and Upper Valley. "New Hampshire is what we are about," he said.

At the Concord, NH media center, television set design company Devlin Design Group was commissiond to design and install a brand new state of the art news set for the new network.

"NH1, New Hampshire’s first multi-platform statewide news source, is getting a state-of-the-art, multi-venue story telling environment from DDG!" Devlin Design Group stated on their blog.

The set was completed at the begining of August, "The big reveal of the stunning, dynamic, and versatile news-telling environment will be forthcoming in the upcoming weeks! Trust us, you don’t want to miss it!"

The new set features LED-RGB lighting which allows the station to change the color of the back lit graphics to enhance the mood and style of their newscasts, and new hardwood floors. The large multi-platform set will be lit with all new energy-efficient Brightline fixtures.

No date of when the newscasts will start has been announced, so stay tuned.
