Thanksgiving football takes center stage this week for high schoolers around the state of Massachusetts, and FOX 25 will continue to build on its popular High School GameDay franchise with two special programs.
FOX 25 is teaming up with Fenway Sports Management and The Boston Globe to cover the Turkey Bowls at Fenway Park in a unique manner.
Highlights of more than twelve games from around the region, including all four games played at Fenway, will be featured on FOX 25’s High School GameDay Thanksgiving special, hosted by Tom Leyden and Bryan Salmond, airing Thursday night at 10:30. Additionally, extended highlights and postgame reaction will be featured online at myfoxboston.com and TheBostonGlobe.com, with Tom Leyden, Bryan Salmond and Boston Globe High School Reporter Eric Russo providing insight and analysis.
Saturday night at 6:30, FOX 25 will air a 30-minute special, “Needham/Wellesley: More Than A Game.” Both schools have provided an all-access pass to the FOX 25 Sports team throughout the week leading up to their game at Fenway Park. Saturday’s special program on FOX 25 will celebrate the oldest public high school football rivalry in the country in comprehensive, behind-the-scenes fashion. “Needham/Wellesley: More Than A Game” will also explore the history of football at Fenway Park, as FOX 25 takes you on the sidelines with the coaches and players during the 128th meeting between the Rockets and Raiders.
“This is an opportunity to go behind the scenes of great event in our community and the great spirit of everyone involved,” said FOX 25 Sports Director Tom Leyden. “To be embedded with these high schoolers and their coaches all week through the game at Fenway will make this truly a special program that celebrates the oldest high school rivalry in the country in one of the most storied sports venues in the country.”
An encore presentation of “Needham/Wellesley: More Than A Game” will air Sunday at 11:30 p.m.
