Keisha Grant co-anchors the 6pm and 11pm news alongside Gerry Brooks weekdays on WVIT-TV NBC 30 (NBC Connecticut).

An Emmy Award winning journalist, Keisha has covered some of Connecticut's biggest stories since joining the station in 2003. From the corruption scandal that brought down former Gov. John Rowland to the massacre at Hartford Distributors, the worst workplace shooting in state history. She also led the station’s 2011 wall-to-wall coverage of Hurricane Irene. Prior to joining NBC Connecticut, Keisha spent three years as a weekend anchor and reporter at WSYX-TV ABC 6 in Columbus, OH. She's also spent two years as a reporter at KMIR-TV in Palm Springs, CA; and started her career as a reporter in West Covina, CA.

A native of Granada Hills, CA, Keisha is a graduate of the University of La Verne where she earned a Bachelor's degree in television broadcasting.

1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
 iPhone 6 plus. I’m the mom of a toddler so Amazon, WebMD Baby and Fisher-Price Baby are my favorite apps. I also can’t live without Twitter because I need to know what’s happening and I need to know right now.

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
By far, my favorite topic to cover is any story that makes us feel good. There is far too much bad happening in our world. Any time there’s a chance to put a smile on someone’s face, it’s a good day.

My least favorite topics are stories of harm to a child or animal. I’m a big softie and it’s hard for me not to feel those stories in the pit of my stomach.

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
I decided at the age of 14 that this is exactly what I would be doing with my life. I paid my way through college and a year of local cable by working as a licensed pharmacy technician. I have no doubt that, if this profession had never quite materialized for me, I would have been a pharmacist.

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Hands down, Scooby Doo!

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
Free-time, what’s that? If I had it I would spend it in the kitchen or sitting in my favorite rocking chair reading a good book.

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
The hills of Tuscany to take cooking classes.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

8. Do you collect anything?
I used to collect shoes, these days not so much.

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
The Girl From Ipanema by Amy Winehouse, L.A. Love by Fergie, Honky Tonk Badonkadonk by Trace Adkins. My musical taste has always been all over the place and I love it that way.

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
Childbirth. Need I say more? smiley
