The Watchup app, through a new partnership with Tribune Media, has added newscasts from Tribune's stations to their streming lineup.

The Watchup app delivers a personalized newscast from the various news sources to your tablet and mobile devices. Your news is ready to watch whenever you are, wherever you are.

The partnership, which launches today, means unparalleled access to your favorite local news, sports and weather on your platform of choice. Starting today, you can view content from broadcast news powerhouses like WTIC in Hartford, KTLA in Los Angeles, WGN in Chicago and WPIX in New York. The partnership also makes it possible to search and select content from other locales, empowering you to watch hometown news wherever you may be.

“Most news is local news. Watchup is creating an alternative to traditional TV watching that supports the surging trend for over-the-top media consumption, ” said Watchup founder and CEO Adriano Farano.  “I’m thrilled to bring our users Tribune Media’s award-winning journalism from across the country.” According to Pew Research’s State of the Media report, more than 70 percent of Americans watch local news regularly.

The deal also incorporates Tribune Broadcasting’s stations in Cleveland; Denver; San Diego; Kansas City; Indianapolis, Sacramento, Milwaukee, Portland, Oregon; Seattle, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City, Houston, Dallas, and Washington D.C. In full, the partnership encompasses stations in 29 top DMAs reaching millions of viewers.

Watchup uses your device’s GPS to feed local news to your stream. Transforming you into the editor of your own personalized, multi-channel newscasts, Watchup remains the ideal service for news video on your time and on the device of your choosing.

The Watchup app is available on iOS, Android, Amazon devices, Google Glass and Xbox 360.
