Fred Campagna has joined WTNH-TV ABC 8 in New Haven, CT as a senior meteorologist, New England One has learned. He will be be forecasting the weather for WTNH's evening newscasts, taking over for meteorologist Kyla Grogan who left the station in July.

Prior to joining WTNH, Fred was most recently a freelance meteorologist for WFXT-TV FOX 25 in Boston.

In addition to his on-air work, Fred also owns and is the chief meteorologist for Right Weather LLC, a company that specializes in forecasting for the Northeast United States. In addition to providing forecasts through its apps and website, Right Weather also provides consulting services for public and private industries specializing in storm forecasting, data reporting, and long range forecasting. Fred started the company in 2012 when he left WLNE-TV ABC 6 in Providence, RI.

Fred began his career at ABC 6 in 1998 as a meteorologist, but was involved in more than just weather at the station. In addition to forecasting the weather, he's also reported and designed some of the stations websites. In 2008, Fred was named ABC 6's chief meteorologist.

Fred has earned his American Meteorological Society (AMS) Television Seal of Approval, and was the first meteorologist in Southern New England to earn the Society's Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation - a professional recognition of the quality of his weather broadcasts.

A native of Bristol, RI, Fred is a 1994 graduate of the University of Colorado where he studied economics. He soon discovered that weather, and not a career in economics, was what he loved. In 1998, he received a degree in meteorology from Plymouth State College, where he graduated cum laude and served as Vice President of the school's American Meteorological Society Chapter.

Fred started at WTNH this month.
