1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
I have two phones; an iPhone 5S for work and an iPhone 6 as my personal phone. I use Twitter all the time as a way to share with viewers a little behind-the-scenes of my life. I also use RadarScope when I’m on the road tracking the latest weather. For fun, I play TwoDots and Looney Tunes Dash!. And on the plane, when I’m exhausted but restless, I listen to Spotify to relax me.

2. Favorite and least favorite news/weather topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
Weather is amazing and incredible but it’s also very dangerous so while I love covering the phenomenon of weather as a meteorologist, I really hate covering the destruction it can cause. The aftermath of a tornado is especially hard because you actually see people’s homes gone. The spirit and resilience of people, though, is incredible and really puts life and what’s important into perspective. I also get the opportunity to do some fun feature-y reporting which can range from going to Santa school to golfing in Palm Desert, CA; all of those spots are a lot of fun!

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
I would love to open an old-fashioned ice cream shop. No fancy yogurts, just a mix of hard and soft-serve, milkshakes, all the toppings, etc. It was my favorite job in high school and I’d love to own my shop!

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
I LOVE cartoons, even now- Adventure Time is my favorite. But I loved Looney Tunes, Muppet Babies, and Animaniacs growing up.

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
What’s free time? This winter has been so busy that I haven’t had a lot of downtime, but when I do I love to cook. It’s definitely my favorite hobby to try out new recipes and be creative with some old recipes.

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
Definitely some place warm! Any place warm! I need a little Vitamin D and a warm-weather pick-me-up because this winter has been way too cold and way too snowy. I just want to soak up some sun, relax by a pool or the ocean, and get out on the golf course.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
I would love to have Tom Hanks over for dinner. He is hands down my favorite actor and I think he would have great stories to tell!

8. Do you collect anything?
Not anymore, but I have hundreds of turtles packed away in boxes-not real ones, but turtle trinkets of all kinds. My grandfather nicknamed me “Turtle” when I was a baby because he said I crawled like one. So it stuck and all throughout my life everyone gave me turtle everything and anything. My mom and I even have turtle tattoos that we got together.

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
Ooh…it’s always changing. I’m actually not a download-person, I’m more of a Spotify-person and I let the app pick the songs for me. I love a wide range of music so right now I’m loving “American Kids” by Kenny Chesney, “Uptown Funk” featuring Bruno Mars, and I’m still not sick of “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift. I’m also kind of obsessed with “Girl Crush” by Little Big Town; her voice is hauntingly amazing.

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
“These pretzels are making me thirsty,” from Seinfeld. I could find a deeper quote but it’s my favorite Seinfeld episode and it comes up often in my everyday life!

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
Only because it’s the most recent experience, these last four weeks of storm coverage. I really love what I do, but it’s a lot of work sometimes and just when I think I can’t put any more energy into something, I surprise myself. I’ve proven to myself that I have a strong work ethic and I’m proud of what I put on TV.
