1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
I have an iPhone 6. I have a lot of favorite apps, all for different purposes: Product Hunt, Longform, Instagram, AlienBlue, ProCam, Vee, SpyVid, SayHi, AlongtheWay, and ScannerPro.

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
I love stories where we can shine a spotlight on parts of society that are broken - where something isn't working as advertised and we can ask & answer 'why not'?

I don't think I have a least favorite topic to cover, but if I have to pick something, I would say celebrity interviews. In my experience, they're usually thinly veiled commercials and there are reporters much better at them than I am.

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
Probably photography or advertising. I have a killer ketchup ad just waiting for the right ad executive. Heinz, I'm waiting for your call.

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Animaniacs. That show taught a generation of kids every country name and the U.S. presidents in order.

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
30 minutes? If I'm at home, I'll probably be fixing something around the house or reading a news article that I had missed.

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
If the plane left today, it would be to Cuba. I want to see Havana before it changes.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
Malala Yousafzai or Commander Scott Kelly on the International Space Station. He would have to host, though.

8. Do you collect anything?
My wife & I collect post cards or Christmas ornaments from pretty much anywhere we travel.

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
Songs by Lana Del Rey, The Black Keys & Joywave

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
"I ask not for a lighter load but for a stronger back" - There are a few versions attributed to different people, so I'm not sure to whom I should give credit, but I like the idea behind it.

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
Every step technically adds strength, doesn't it?
