WTIC-TV has gone "back to its roots" and rebranded the station back to FOX 61. The station made the announcement on "FOX CT Morning Extra" on October 19.

The move comes after a social media campaign that asked people around Connecticut whether they preferred FOX CT or FOX 61.

The station became FOX CT in 2010 as the transition from analog to digital broadcasting occurred. Prior to that, the station had been known as FOX 61 since becoming one of the original Fox broadcast network affiliates in 1986.

Starting with the 4pm news on October 19, the stations newscasts will go back to being called FOX 61 News. The station has also already changed all of their social media accounts to reflect the new name. They've also changed their website, which is now www.fox61.com.
