Univision Dallas announced that Nelly Carreño has joined its on-air weather team as meteorologist for the Dallas area.
She will join Meteorologist Albert Martínez Bobé, appearing on Univision’s local newscasts to deliver the latest weather information, forecasts and breaking news to Dallas-area residents starting January 9.
“I am thrilled to welcome Nelly to Univision Dallas team and have no doubt that her strong experience in local weather coverage will be a great benefit to our viewers,” said Samuel Belilty, news director, Univision News Dallas.
With 15 years of broadcasting experience, Carreño joins Univision Dallas from NECN Boston, where she served the Boston area as the weekday afternoon meteorologist. She has spent time with WSNS Chicago as the meteorologist/entertainment anchor, as well as the weather anchor and travel reporter for AccuWeather. Viewers may recognize Carreño, who started her career in Texas with KTXS News and KVII-TV, before joining KXTX as weather anchor and entertainment reporter.

A native of Mexico City, Mexico, Carreño was raised in Dallas. She holds a degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and received her certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University.
