John Hickey has joined WNEP ABC 16 in Scranton, Pennsylvania as a meteorologist.
John joins WNEP from WPTZ NBC 5 in Burlington, Vermont/Plattsburgh, New York where he was the weekend morning meteorologist since December 2013.
"Today marks my last day here at My NBC5" John said on his Facebook page on December 26, 2016. "Thank you for your support these past three years. It has been such a privilege working in the part of the world that I grew up and went to college in" he said.
John joined WPTZ from WENY ABC/CBS/CW 36 in Elmira, New York where he was the weekday morning meteorologist and a reporter. While there, he covered a wide range of high impact weather events, including the extensive flooding in 2011 from Irene and Lee as well as the Elmira tornado in 2012. He also explored everything the Twin Tiers and Southern Finger Lakes had to offer, from the Ithaca gorges to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.
Prior to that, John was a weekend morning meteorologist at WCAX CBS 3 in Burlington, Vermont.
John is a 2010 graduate of Lyndon State College where he earned a Bachelor's degree in meteorology.
His first day at WNEP was January 9.
