Tim McKone has joined WJAR NBC 10 in Providence, Rhode Island as a sports reporter, New England One has learned.
Tim McKone has joined WJAR NBC 10 in Providence, Rhode Island as a sports reporter, New England One has learned.
Tim is also a sports anchor at WBZ-FM 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston, where in 2013 he made the final four from the more than 1,000 aspiring broadcasters who entered a contest to become a 98.5 weekend co-host. He didn't win, but the station offered him a job reading sports headlines on Saturdays. He's also had the opportunity to read headlines during Bruins intermissions on occassion, and hosted a Celtics halftime and postgame show.
Tim joins WJAR from Charter TV 3 in Worcester, Massachusetts where he had been a general assignment reporter for Worcester News Tonight since December 2014. He first joined Charter TV 3 in October 2011 and held various roles including producer and videographer.
Prior to joining Worcester News Tonight he worked at Worcester's WTAG-AM radio as a host and producer. He also spent over four years as a freelance reporter for Cox Sports Television in the Rhode Island area.
A native of Worcester, Tim is a 2010 graduate of Roger Williams University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in communications.
This is a return to WJAR for Tim - he was an intern there during college.
He started at WJAR on July 2.
