NBC Connecticut / WVIT announced that Ben Dobson will be joining NBC Connecticut as Vice President of News, effective Monday, May 23.

This is a return to NBC Connecticut for Dobson, who is currently Assistant News Director at NECN. From 2011 to 2014 he was the Managing Editor for the station.

“Ben is a true professional with years of experience as both a managing editor and assistant news director,” said Susan Tully, President and General Manager, NBC Connecticut. “His past experience with NBC Connecticut will make his transition back to the station a seamless one.”

“I’m excited to rejoin the NBC Connecticut News team,” said Dobson. “It’s a privilege to be invited to serve the viewers in this region. This is a homecoming for me, and I know from experience the talent and commitment of this news team. . Together, we’ll fulfill the mission to deliver the highest quality news
content to our audience on every platform we serve.”

Dobson has worked at a number of stations in Massachusetts and Connecticut, most recently at NECN. He ran the daily news gathering operation for the country’s largest 24-hour regional cable channel.

Dobson graduated cum laude from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.
