Adam Bagni is joining Boston's WHDH 7 as a freelance reporter.

"I am happy to announce that Adam Bagni will be joining us as a freelance reporter" WHDH news director Linda Miele said in an email to staff.

Adam joins WHDH from WJAR NBC 10 in Providence, Rhode Island where he has most recently been a reporter based out of the stations New Bedford, Massachusetts bureau. He also frequently fills in on the acnhor desk.

"After more than 5 years, I'll be leaving NBC 10 on April 21st" Adam said on his Facebook page. "It was an absolute privilege to work at a legacy station like WJAR, alongside a group of incredibly talented broadcast professionals, and to have the opportunity to cover both news and sports in a place where I grew up - Southern New England."

Adam joined WJAR in 2011 as a sports anchor and reporter, and made the move to news to launch the stations new "Bay State Bureau" in New Bedford in 2014.

Adam has earned five New England Chapter Emmy nominations during his time at WJAR. Among his most notable stories, Adam confronted a former headmaster accused of covering up sexual abuse, uncovered alleged widespread bullying by a collegiate softball coach, and discovered criminal charges against a local fire chief - leading to his termination.

Adam also covered two of the highest profile trials in New England - the Aaron Hernandez murder trial and the penalty phase of the trial of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. During the Hernandez trial, he conducted an exclusive interview with the jury, which aired as a special entitled "Behind the Verdict."

During his time covering sports at the station, Adam reported on major sporting events including including the Super Bowl, World Series, and Stanley Cup Finals. Adam has also hosted numerous studio shows, including "First and 10," "Friday Night Lights," "Varsity Life," "Need for Speed," "Summer Games Showcase," and pre- and post-game shows of Providence College and University of Rhode Island basketball.

He previously served as a "Sports Flash" anchor on the WEEI Radio Network, as well.

Prior to joining WJAR, Adam spent three years as sports director at WNCF ABC/CW 32 in Montgomery, Alabama. During his time down South, he also hosted weekly a college football show, and covered two BCS National Championships.

Prior to starting at WNCF, Adam worked in production for NESN, and for remote broadcasts produced by ESPN, FOX Sports, and NBC at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.

A native of Taunton, Massachusetts, Adam is a graduate of La Salle University in Philadelphia where he earned a Bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communications.

Adam starts at WHDH at the end of the month.
