Here is what viewership looked like in the Boston television market for the October 2016 rating period.
WCVB won all but one time period in the Households and Persons 2+ demos, WHDH won 4:30pm in both. WCVB and WHDH split most of the wins in the advertiser friendly Adults 25-54 demographic.
Here are the highlights in the A25-54 demo:
- WCVB's NewsCenter 5 EyeOpener won from 4:30am-7am
- WHDH finished ahead of WCVB (#2), and WBZ (#3) at Noon
- WHDH won at 4pm
- WHDH won 5pm-6pm
- WCVB won at 6pm
- WCVB won at 7pm
- WCVB won at 11pm
Looking outside of the A25-54 demo turned up some surprising results. WBZ finished in second place in the Households and Persons 2+ demo from 4:30am-6am; 5pm-6pm, 6pm-6:30pm, and at 11pm pushing WHDH to 3rd place. When WBZ, WCVB and WHDH were competing, WHDH only finished second from 6am-7am and at Noon.
