Kris Anderson has been promoted to morning anchor at WHDH 7 in Boston, New England One has learned.

"I have worked so hard to get to this point in my career, and I can't wait for the new adventures still to come" Kris said in a post on his Facebook page. "I am so lucky that I'll be working with not only two super talented co-anchors in Sarah French and Christa Delcamp, but also two wonderful friends! In fact, the entire morning team in front of the camera and behind the scenes are the best in the business, and I couldn't ask for a better group of people to work with."

Kris will join anchors Christa Delcamp and Sarah French when the station expands the morning newscast to five hours in January.

"Since joining us almost three years ago, Kris has contributed to our newscasts in a variety of ways" said WHDH news director Linda Miele in an email to staff. "Anchoring our weekend morning news, getting people caught up on the big stories as an in-house reporter for [Today in New England], and helping to get results for all the viewers asking him to "Solve It 7." We’re thrilled Kris will now be taking on an even bigger role."

Kris joined WHDH in December 2013 as the weekend morning anchor and a weekday reporter for 7 News Today in New England.

He came to WHDH after spending nine years as the morning news anchor at WREG CBS 3 in Memphis, Tennessee. Prior to that, he spent more than three years leading the sports department at WOAY ABC 50 in Oakhill, West Virginia before being promoted to evening news anchor.

Kris began his career as a sports intern at WHDH’s sister station WSVN FOX 7 in Miami, Florida.

A native of Miami, Kris is a 1999 graduate of Florida International University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and communication and media studies.
