Alex DiPrato is leaving "The News Station" for "The News Station." He is joining WHDH 7 in Boston as a reporter, New England One has learned.

Alex DiPrato is leaving "The News Station" for "The News Station." He is joining WHDH 7 in Boston as a reporter, New England One has learned.

"After several great years at 7 News in Miami -- it is time for a change!" Alex said in a statement. "I'm moving to 7 News in Boston this fall. Excited to return to the Northeast -- time to dust off my winter jackets!"

Alex joins WHDH from Sunbeam Television sister-station WSVN FOX 7 in Miami, Florida where he has been a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor since 2011.

During his time at WSVN, Alex has covered many storms in South Florida, and was one of the reporters sent to Havana, Cuba to cover the re-opening of the United States Embassy there.

Alex is no stranger to New England - he joined WSVN from WPRI-TV CBS 12/WNAC-TV FOX 64 in Providence, Rhode Island where he was a reporter and fill-in anchor. While there, he covered everything from snowstorms to the death of Senator Ted Kennedy.

Prior to his three years in Providence, Alex was a reporter and weekend anchor at WTXL-TV in Tallahassee, Florida. He started his professional career behind the scenes as a writer and associate producer at WSVN, and also interned there during college.

A native of Broward County in Florida, Alex is a 2003 graduate of the University of Miami where he studied broadcast journalism and political science.

Alex starts at WHDH in October.
