Shaun Chaiyabhat is joining Boston's WCVB-TV ABC 5 as a reporter.

"Boston is closer to my family in Maine," Shaun told the Orlando Sentinel. "Florida has treated me very well. During my time here, I have grown as a journalist and as a person. I'm leaving with many incredible memories" he said.

Shaun comes to WCVB from WKMG-TV CBS 6 in Orlando, FL where he has been a general assignment reporter for the past five years.

Prior to WKMG, Shaun spent four years as a reporter at WREG-TV CBS 3 in Memphis, TN. While in Memphis, he worked uncovering corruption and crime, and told stories about real people overcoming unthinkable acts and unbelievable odds.

He's also worked as a reporter at WCIA-TV and WICS-TV, both in Springfield, IL. Shaun's on-air career started with an internship at WICS covering politics and government at the state capitol. He covered the political antics of Rod Blagojevich and Barack Obama's race for the national stage. While at WCIA, he reported on everything from deadly tornados to faulty fire hydrants.

During college, Shaun spent time as an intern at WMAQ-TV in Chicago, and as a video editor at WICD-TV in Springfield.

A native of Maine, Shaun is a 2004 graduate of the University of Illinois Springfield where he earned a Master's degree in public affairs. He earned a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism in 2003 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Shaun's last day at WKMG is February 18, he starts at WCVB soon after.
