NBC 4 New York / WNBC today announced that weekend anchor Natalie Pasquarella will co-anchor the station’s soon-to-be launched 4 PM newscast. Pasquarella will join previously announced co-anchor Stefan Holt and weather anchor Dave Price for the new newscast, which debuts on June 13.
Pasquarella has served as a weekday reporter and weekend evening co-anchor for News 4 New York since last fall, following her arrival from WSOC in Charlotte, North Carolina. At WSOC, Pasquarella co-anchored the station’s weekday 5:30 PM and 10 PM newscasts.
Holt, who will start at the station in mid-April, was named co-anchor of NBC 4 New York’s 4 PM news earlier this year. He joins the station from WMAQ, the NBC-owned television station in Chicago, where he co-anchored the station’s weekday morning and midday newscasts. Holt will report for the station in addition to his 4 PM anchor role.
Price currently serves as weather anchor for NBC 4 New York’s noon and 5:30 PM weekday broadcasts. He joined the station last fall.
“Natalie, Stefan and Dave share NBC 4 New York’s commitment to broadcast excellence,” said Susan Sullivan, Vice President of News, NBC 4 New York. “They all possess a tremendous work ethic, connect with their audience and are devoted to providing our viewers with the information they need – when they need it. We think they’ll make a great team.”
NBC 4 New York previously announced plans to add an hour-long 4 PM newscast to its lineup later this year. The new 4 PM newscast will deliver viewers the major local news developments of the day, including breaking news, weather, investigative and consumer reporting.
In addition to the launch of the new 4 PM newscast, NBC 4 New York announced slight anchor changes to its other evening newscasts. At 5 PM, David Ushery and Sibila Vargas will co-anchor the station’s 5 PM newscast, joined by chief meteorologist Janice Huff. Pasquarella will join lead news anchor Chuck Scarborough as co-anchors of the 6 PM newscast, joined by Huff and sports anchor Bruce Beck. The 11 PM news lineup of Scarborough, Vargas, Huff and Beck remains unchanged.
With the launch of the NBC 4 New York’s 4 PM newscast, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which was previously renewed by the NBC Owned Stations through the summer of 2020, will move to 3 PM. The Steve Harvey Show will air at 2 PM.
Today’s announcement reflects NBC 4 New York’s commitment to providing viewers with more of the local news, weather, sports and entertainment programming they want across multiple platforms. In addition to the new 4 PM newscast, NBC 4 New York has recently strengthened its consumer investigative franchise, Better Get Baquero, which has recovered more than $700,000 for consumers since 2013, and is powered by a new consumer investigative center, which answers every phone call, and returns every email. Additionally, the station won 11 New York Emmy Awards last month, including six alone for its powerhouse investigative team, the NBC 4 I-Team, in recognition of journalistic excellence.
