Matt Lagor has joined Providence's WJAR NBC 10 as a part-time meteorologist, New England One has learned.

Matt Lagor has joined Providence's WJAR NBC 10 as a part-time meteorologist, New England One has learned.

Matt will be filling in on newscasts and providing vacation relief as needed according to an NBC 10 spokesperson.

Matt joins WJAR from WPRI CBS 12 where he had been a freelance meteorologist since September 2014. He also spent almost eight years at WLNE ABC 6 as the weekend morning meteorologist when the station had a weekend morning newscast.

Outside of forecasting the weather, Matt has spent time as an air quality specialist for the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management.

He's also been a technical specialist for Woodard & Curran; a senior environmental health and safety officer at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center; and is currently and environmental health and safety manager at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

A native of Seekonk, Massachusetts, Matt is a 2003 graduate of Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont where he earned a Bachelor's degree in meteorology.
