Kelly Johnston has been named News Director at WLNE ABC 6 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Kelly Johnston has been named News Director at WLNE ABC 6 in Providence, Rhode Island.

She replaces Nicole Moye who recently left the station.

The announcement was made in Providence by Chris Tzianabos, Vice President and General Manager at WLNE-TV ABC 6, “Kelly had previously been a loyal member of the ABC6 family for over 14 years starting in 1999. She started first as a Graphics Producer, moved on to CG Operator then she made the switch to news as a Producer in 2005 when she was later promoted to Senior Producer.

Kelly left ABC6 in late 2013 to be home with her young children. I am excited to welcome Kelly back to the family as News Director and I am confident she will be successful in bringing fresh ideas and a continued competitive spirit to ABC6 News.”

A native Rhode Islander and a Graduate of Brown University, Kelly is looking forward to her return to WLNE “It’s wonderful to be coming home to ABC6, I'm eager to work with such talented and determined team, serving Southern New England by delivering the news that matters to all of us,” Johnston stated.

Kelly lives in Barrington, Rhode Island with her husband Doug and two children Kaylee and Connor.
