Good news for viewers of the FOX 25 Morning News on WFXT-TV in Boston who enjoy the stations weekly "Zip Trip" series throughout the summer.
As John LaHair, PR rep for sponsor DCU, would say on Twitter "Zip Zip Hooray! The trips are here to stay!"
A station rep for FOX 25 exclusively tells New England One that the Zip Trips will resume starting on Friday May 29th from Waltham, MA.
Zip Trips are live broadcasts from select zip codes around Massachusetts and New Hampshire where the FOX 25 Morning News team talks to the local residents, highlights local businesses, and discovers what makes the town a great place to live in.
We hear the series will not be returning in its previous form, and will be scaled back a bit.
Some of the past Zip Trips have included:
- Hometown Hero: Meet the local hero who helps out whenever needed and is making a difference in their community
- Taste of the Town: Local restaurants, cafés or bakeries demonstrate savory dishes and sweet treats
- Home Town Team: A salute to a youth or senior team ranging from baseball and soccer to the local running club
- Zip Trip Trivia: Trying to stump a special guest with local trivia
- On the Market: Preview homes in the area and hear about schools, services and recreation
- Firehouse Fridays: A local fire station and firefighters will be honored for all they do
- Zip Trip Fan of the Week: FOX 25 will pick someone from the crowd with true Zip Trip Spirit as their Fan of the Week
- High Speed Deal: On-site scavenger hunt game for Zip Trip attendees
- Zip Trip Jr. Reporter: FOX 25 will select a child from the crowd to help them with a few reporter duties
- Town Tour: The FOX 25 Morning News team explores the best eats, must-see attractions, hidden gems, and little known landmarks!
FOX 25 will be "zipping" to a new community each Friday through September 4th. The rest of the list of towns being visited is still being finalized, and FOX 25 tells us it will be released very soon.
