New England Cable News, the nation’s largest regional news network, today announced it is revamping its anchor lineup, including moving Anchor Latoyia Edwards to mornings. Edwards, who was previously the station’s evening anchor, will be paired with Co-Anchor Brian Shactman and Chief Meteorologist Matt Noyes weekday mornings from 5 to 9 AM on NECN This Morning starting Monday, April 27.
“Our new morning team is the next step in the evolution of NECN and is just the beginning of our new focus,” said Kenny Plotnik, Vice President of News, NECN. “The team of Latoyia, Brian and Matt will bring a new energy to mornings with a focus on breaking news, weather and original content.”
NECN is also taking a giant leap forward in its commitment to strong enterprise reporting with the launch of investigative and consumer units. The investigative unit, featuring veteran Reporter Ally Donnelly, will partner with the New England Center for Investigative Reporting to expose government failure, wasteful spending and corruption, among other issues relevant to viewers across New England. The new consumer unit, which will feature Anchor/Reporter Leslie Gaydos, will advocate on behalf of local consumers, warning them of rip-offs and scams and helping them save money.
Effective April 27, the following other weekday anchor changes will occur in addition to Edwards shift to mornings:
- 5 AM – 9 AM Latoyia Edwards / Brian Shactman / Matt Noyes
- 9 AM – 10 AM Bridget Blythe / Matt Noyes
- 10 AM – 11 AM Brian Shactman / Nelly Carreno

While 'Broadside' is not listed in the above lineup, NECN brand and marketing director Susan Pascal tells New England One that the program will continue in some form. She says they "are committed to a program that digs into topics in depth beyond the typical package length." As for the new host of the show that Jim Braude signed off from in February, Pascal tells us that "the news department is reviewing many different kinds of candidates to host the program – both internally and externally."
Over the last year-and-a-half, NECN has experienced a transformation, including unveiling a brand new, state-of-the-art studio that debuted to viewers in February along with a brighter and more modern newsroom, upgraded technology and tools and a new focus on breaking news and weather coverage.
NECN is available to viewers throughout most of New England; check local listings for channel placement.
