Susie Steimle is leaving WJAR-TV NBC 10 in Providence to join WBZ-TV CBS 4 in Boston as a freelance reporter, New England One has confirmed.
It was only in November that we told you Susie was being promoted from morning reporter to weekend evening anchor/reporter at WJAR. At the time, WJAR news director Chris Lanni said "Susie is an exceptional reporter who shows grace under pressure during her stringent Sunrise shift deadlines. Her professionalism and attention to detail will be an asset on our weekend anchor desk"
Her move comes shortly after WJAR taken over by Sinclair Broadcast Group under terms of the merger between Media General and LIN Media.
Susie joined WJAR in January of 2013 as a multi-media journalist on the stations 'Sunrise' and noon newscasts. Prior to joining WJAR, she was a political reporter and fill-in anchor for WCAX-TV CBS 3 in Burlington, VT. While at WCAX, Susie was responsible for covering the 2012 New Hampshire presidential primary in Manchester, NH. She was also on the ground for storm coverage when Tropical Storm Irene ravaged the southern part of the state.
Susie took a short four month break from television news after college and joined Matter Communications in Boston as an account coordinator. Before that, she was a reporter/anchor/producer at KOMU-TV NBC 8 in Columbia, MO, which is a teaching television station owned by the University of Missouri's School of Journalism. She has also been a reporter at KBIA NPR radio, and was an intern at WWMT-TV CBS 3 in Grand Rapids, MI.
A native of Michigan, Susie is a 2010 graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia where she studied journalism.
She leaves WJAR this month and is expected to join WBZ later in January.
