Elysia Rodriguez has joined WFXT FOX 25 as a reporter, New England One has learned.

Elysia Rodriguez has joined WFXT FOX 25 as a reporter, New England One has learned.

Elysia joins WFXT from NECN and NBC Boston where she had been a freelance reporter since April 2015.

Elysia will always have her place as part of the team that launched NBC Boston in January 2017.

"Elysia has grown right along with us as we launched NBC Boston" said NECN/NBC Boston assistant news director Bill McFarland in an email to staff. "She helped us get through the historic storms of 2015 and covered several major stories including the death of Auburn Police Officer Ronald Tarentino. All the while, Elysia was was always happy to switch shifts or work extra days to make sure we can continue to deliver Boston's best news product."

"While I am sad she is leaving us" McFarland added in his email, "I'm happy for Elysia because she has been able to land a full-time position in her hometown. That also means we will still see her around."

Elysia joined NECN from WIVB CBS 4/WNLO CW 23 in Buffalo, New York where she was a reporter and fill-in anchor.

Prior to that, Elysia spent almost 5 years at WWLP NBC 22 in Springfield, Massachusetts as a anchor and reporter.

During her time at WWLP, she won two New England Chapter Emmy Awards related to coverage of the 2011 Springfield tornado. She has also won two Associated Press Awards, as a reporter in 2009 and as an anchor in 2011.

Elysia has also been a reporter at WQOW ABC 18 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

She started her career at WPRI CBS 12 in Providence, Rhode Island first as an assignment editor, and later a producer of the 5:30pm newscast.

Born in Tampa, Florida, Elysia was primarily raised in the Philippines. She is a 2005 graduate of Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island where she earned dual Bachelor degrees in both communications and political science.

Elysia's last day at NECN/NBC Boston was on April 16, she starts at WFXT next week.
