WFXT FOX 25 issued a response today on the news that Nielsen would be reissuing the February sweeps results for Boston.

The station benefited from a ratings bump due to a household that was thrown out of the Nielsen sample after an investigation.

Here is the statement from the station:

FOX25 has received the Client Notification issued by Nielsen yesterday.

We are disappointed that Nielsen has decided to restate the February ratings in the Boston market at this late date, but it is up to Nielsen to select the households that determine ratings. FOX25 plays no role in that process.

We are confident that our news programming will continue to resonate with our audience. In fact, with the start of the March rating period, our M-F late news at 10 p.m. continues to be the #1 news source in the Boston market. We outperform our closest competitor WHDH by 8% for the March sweep period to date (3-2-17 through 3-17-17). In addition our M-F 11 p.m. news is currently only 4,800 viewers apart from the #1 station WCVB.

“The continuation of our leadership position at 10 p.m. is a testament to the hard work of the FOX25 news team to serving the viewers on every screen, every day,” said FOX25 Vice-President and General Manager, Tom Raponi. “From alerting people to breaking news and severe weather to producing investigations that lead to change, our team is delivering the news that matters to Boston and all of New England. Viewers have more choices than ever and that means the level of competition is also higher than ever. While we wait for Nielsen to issue revised February ratings the fact remains that FOX25 News at 10 is the #1 late news in the Boston market in the March rating period to date. We thank our viewers for turning to FOX25 and making us their first choice for late local news.”

Because the household that was thrown out was still in the sample on March 2, that day will be removed from the average and recalculated. With March 2 removed, WFXT drops to 4th place at 11pm.
