Beginning today, the “Countdown NBC Boston” channel is available to over-the-air viewers in the Boston region in preparation for the January 1 launch of NBC Boston. During this time, viewers using over-the-air antennas in Boston are encouraged to rescan their television or set-top box to add channel 8 and channel 60.2 for northern Massachusetts and New Hampshire to their channel lineup before the January 1, 2017 launch. For Comcast cable customers, NBC Boston will be added to the lineup on December 1 to channel 810. NECN, which currentlu occupies channel 810 will move to channel 840. Comcast will also be adding Cozi TV from WBTS to channel 935. On December 30, Comcast will add WBTS to its standard definition tier on channel 10, moving WWDP-TV to channel 81.
The “Countdown NBC Boston” channel will simulcast necn newscasts throughout the days leading up to the launch and feature a countdown calendar that will count down the days until January 1. The channel will feature syndicated programming including “Harry”, “Rachel Ray”, “Access Hollywood” and “Access Hollywood Live” as well as “Dateline”, “MASH” and “Frasier” until January 1. After January 1, NBC Boston will launch with original newscasts and NBC programming as previously announced. www.NBCBoston.com is the new website for NBC Boston and will bring NBC Boston news and weather to audiences across the region on the go. An NBC Boston app will follow in the next few weeks. To help count down the days until the launch of NBC Boston, the “Countdown NBC Boston" calendar will be visible at the top of the homepage. NBC Boston's content will also be available on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
