Diane Cho is joining WCVB ABC 5 in Boston as a general assignment reporter, the station has announced.

"We look forward to Diane joining WCVB's deep roster of talented reporters," said WCVB president and general manager Bill Fine. "Diane is a remarkable storyteller and outstanding journalist with experience covering a wide variety of stories and will be a great asset to our team."

"Diane has a track record of delivering exceptional, quality stories that make a difference in peoples' lives. We're proud to welcome her to the NewsCenter 5 family," said WCVB news director Andrew Vrees.

"It's an honor for me to be joining a team of WCVB's caliber," said Cho. "I take with me many valuable experiences from Washington, D.C. and I look forward to creating new experiences in Boston. It was clear to me that this is where I belong after meeting with WCVB's leadership team. My husband and I are excited to make Boston our new home."

Diane joins WCVB from WJLA ABC 7 in Washington, D.C. where she was a reporter. While there, she covered a variety of high profile stories and contributed weekly to the station's "Government Matters" program. Reporting on cyber-security for this show allowed her the opportunity to sit down for a one-on-one interview with the Chief Technology Officer of the United States and go behind the scenes of the FBI's Biometrics office.

Prior to WJLA-TV, Diane worked as a reporter and anchor at another Hearst Television station, KMBC-TV in Kansas City, where she spent three years covering a wide variety of stories including the devastating Joplin tornado. Diane also worked for a time as a reporter at WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Florida.

A native of Orlando, Florida, Diane graduated from the University of Florida with a double major in broadcast journalism and political science. It was there she got her first taste in television news reporting for the college television station WUFT-TV. During college she also interned for Hearst Television's WESH-TV in Orlando. Her first job after college was reporting for WRDW-TV in Augusta, Georgia.

When Diane is not working, she loves to train in Muay Thai kickboxing and cheer on her beloved Florida Gators. And as an avid beach-goer, she is looking forward to exploring the New England coastline.

Diane starts at WCVB on July 11.
