Alexandra Cowley is the main co-anchor at WLNE-TV ABC 6 in Providence, anchoring the 6pm & 11pm newscasts.
Alexandra joined ABC 6 in 2011 as a multimedia journalist, and later the co-anchor of ABC 6 News at 5pm & 5:30pm. She joined ABC 6 from WCJB-TV ABC 20 in Gainesville, FL where she reported and anchored. While in Gainesville, Alexandra reported on stories like the infamous Terry Jones and his burning of the Quran that caused unrest worldwide. She also shed light on the prescription pill epidemic and uncovered a Florida doctor accused of over prescribing medication to his patients that resulted in 34 deaths.
A native of Florida, Alexandra is a graduate of Florida State University where she received a degree in mass media communications.
1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
I have an iPhone 6 and I’m obsessed with the Fitbit App! My family and I challenge each other all the time, so I’m constantly checking my steps. I know it’s a little insane, but so fun!
2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
My favorite stories to tell would be anything that involves investigating. I’m starting to think I should have been a detective, because I love digging to find new information and uncover the truth.
3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
Other than being the detective I pretend to be, probably trying to be Carrie Underwood. I’m wildly obsessed with country music and what it represents.
4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Oh geez I have a few. I’d have to say Rugrats and Doug... Oh and Hey Arnold!
5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
I love going running with my dog Diesel. It’s my time to escape my thoughts and crazy schedule and just run. It always makes me feel incredibly refreshed and ready to take on the day.
6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
Ireland! I’ve only seen the breathtaking landscape in movies. I can picture myself running to some random pub in the middle of nowhere and meeting awesome people. My husband and I love adventures and Ireland is on the bucket list.
7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
I’d have to say my grandfather. He died before I was born and from what I’ve heard, he was a pretty incredible guy.
8. Do you collect anything?
I do! Coffee mugs! I love my hot cup of coffee in the morning and for some reason feel the need to stuff my cabinets with a mug from every place I’ve traveled to. It’s become slightly ridiculous and I’ve had to get rid of a few ;(

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
My great uncle passed away recently. He was like a grandfather to me. Losing him has meant learning how to carry on his legacy.
