David Wade is the anchor of the 5pm & 11pm newscasts on WBZ-TV CBS 4 in Boston. He joined WBZ in 2007 as the morning and noon anchor, and was promoted to evenings alongside Lisa Hughes in August 2014.

A recipient of 21 New England Chapter Emmy Awards, David spent 9 years at WFXT-TV FOX 25 before coming to WBZ. He worked first as a general assignment reporter, then as the anchor of the 5pm & 10pm newscasts until he left the station. He has also worked as a reporter for WXAA-TV in Albany, NY, and at WRNN-TV in Rye Brook, NY.

A native of Somerville, MA, David is a 1995 graduate of Emerson College in Boston where he studied broadcast journalism.

1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
I have an iPhone 6 Plus. Yes, the big one. I love it- even though everyone makes fun of the size. "Hey David, nice laptop!" "Hey David, do you have to wear pants with big pockets?" I love my Echofon app for Twitter, MapMyRun for my marathon training and Snapseed for editing pictures. I love photography.

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
Favorite topics to cover: Stories about people. Fascinating people. I have a new weekly 11pm franchise called "In Their Shoes." I pick a person or newsmaker with an interesting life, job, family, struggle, etc and try to give an intimate look at what life is like - good or bad- in their shoes.

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
I would like to be a barber, a chef, a lawyer or a break dancer. One of those isn't true.

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
I never really liked cartoons. I thought the Flinstones were ok- though Kazoo was freaky. When they had Saturday morning cartoons, I was really just waiting for "This Week In Baseball" to start.  I think that last sentence makes me old.

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
I should say I like to do the New York Times crossword puzzle, because that would make me look  smart. In reality, I seldom have 30 minutes. If I do, I like to play with my kids, workout or swing a blockbuster fantasy baseball trade.

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
I would travel to a villa in the Italian countryside and then, when I'm bored, I'd take the helicopter to my hypothetical second home in Sicily. If that wasn't available, I'd be happy with a beach chair next to my wife on a Cape Cod beach.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
My wife, my daughter and my two little boys. It's a bit of a cop out I know, but now that I work nights, a family dinner at home is an incredible treat.

8. Do you collect anything?
I kind of collect cars, but not in the way an Ernie Boch might. I never have more than one car, but I change cars every two or three years. It makes no financial sense but I love cars. More specifically I love Jeeps. I have had four Jeep Wranglers and two Jeep Grand Cherokees. When my kids are old enough to enjoy a bumpy, windy ride, I'll get another soft top Wrangler.

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
Lately, they are all songs that help me with my running. "Til I Collapse" by Eminem, "Run This Town" by Rihanna/Jay Z and "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen. My favorite song of all-time is probably "Imagine" by John Lennon. Oh, and anything by the White Stripes or Pearl Jam.

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
"Well done is better than well said."

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
After a routine physical about eight months ago, I learned I was born with a heart defect that no one had ever noticed. It was a scary few weeks. As it turned out, it wasn't nearly as bad as it could've been but it reminded me that life is fragile. It didn't slow me down, in fact it made me far stronger. To use a another favorite quote: "Get busy living or get busy dying."
