As we move toward the series' 30th anniversary, CBS has released a first look of the reboot of "Murphy Brown."

The cast of Murphy Brown (1988–96, from left): (front) Kimbrough, Bergen, Regalbuto, Ford, Shaud; (back) Pastorelli, CorleyThe revival will offer fans a look at how Murphy Brown (Candice Bergen) tackles the current state of cable news, clickbait, and a very different political and cultural climate.

Original cast members Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto, and Grant Shaud will also reprise their roles as Corky Sherwood, Frank Fontana and Miles Silverberg, respectively. In addition, actor Jake McDorman will go head-to-head with star Candice Bergen (Brown) as her son, Avery, a millennial journalist who followed in his mother's headline-making footsteps. However, the traits they have in common - like a competitive spirit and quick wit - might be the same things that cause friction between the two.

For those wondering, Charles Kimbrough, who was one of only four cast members who were series regulars on all 10 seasons of the original series, alongside Bergen, Ford and Regalbuto, had also been approached for the revival. The 81-year-old actor, who played FYI anchorman Jim Dial, is not well enough to return full-time, but there is a possibility for him to reprise his role as a guest star, according to Deadline.
