Danielle Vollmar has been the weekend morning meteorologist at WCVB-TV ABC 5 in Boston since 2013.

Before coming to WCVB, Danielle freelanced at WXTF-TV FOX 29 in Philadelphia, and prior to that was the evening meteorologist for KDAF-TV CW 33 in Dallas, TX. In Dallas, she also hosted KDAF's "Eye Opener" show that also aired on some other Sinclair owned stations. She has also worked for KOKH-TV in Oklahoma City, OK; WENY-TV in Elmira, NY; and WBOC-TV in Salisbury, MD.

A native of Lansdale, PA, Danielle is a graduate of Cornell University where she studied atmospheric science and communications.

1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
I have the Iphone 5s and to be honest the app I have been using the most is the WCVB Boston Weather App.  I always have to keep track of the weather since it seems like it snows almost every day and we have had 4 winter storms in 3 weeks. When I am not busy with winter weather, I do like the instagram app a lot because I love seeing all the scenic photos people take.

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
Since I am a meteorologist I really only cover weather topics so my favorite kind of weather to cover is severe weather. Most people don't know this but while I am originally from the Northeast, I spent over 4 years of my career in Oklahoma City & Dallas so I did a lot of tornado coverage. My least favorite weather to cover is river flooding.  I will admit this winter I have enjoyed being out in the winter storms & blizzards!  You never know if you will find me blowing in the wind in Sandwich or shoveling out fire hydrants in Peabody. My job is fun!

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
I really love what I do so that is a hard question. I do coach lacrosse for the 5th/6th grade girls of Concord, MA so maybe I would make that full time. I also have been told I could teach since I do a lot of school visits during the year...so maybe that too? Obviously something with kids!

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
I watched many cartoons but Scooby Doo was probably my favorite. I loved the mystery and their funny voices.

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
If I have 30 minutes you will normally find me taking a quick nap or else going for a run. I like the first choice a lot more!

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
I have always wanted to go Bora Bora. It seems just so beautiful & warm! I would love a little cabana on the ocean right about now.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
I would love to have dinner with Oprah. I used to watch her show almost daily and I just think she is fascinating. She was such a "real" person on tv and does so much good in the world. Plus, I just got done reading her book "What I Know For Sure" and I would love to have her tell me some of the stories in person!

8. Do you collect anything?
Honestly, if you have ever looked into my closet you would say I collect all things clothes & shoes, but then again I am a female! HAHA!

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
Right now I love Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do". However, I do use my iPod when I run so I play on repeat "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor & "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi.

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
“Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.” - Anthony J. D'Angelo

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
My last experience that made me a stronger person was running the Boston Marathon last year. It not only pushed me to run farther than I ever had, but I ran through snow, ice, and extreme cold during my training runs all on my own. However, when I crossed that finish line & knew that I had not only finished in my goal time but raised over $7,000 for Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital it was totally worth it!
