Media General today announced that Ron Romines has been named Vice President and General Manager of WTEN-TV, its ABC affiliate in Albany, NY, effective December 1, 2014.

Mr. Romines has been serving as General Sales Manager at WTEN. Mr. Romines succeeds Andy Alford, who is now Vice President and General Manager of WFLA-TV, Media General’s NBC affiliate in Tampa, FL, and also Media General’s Vice President-Sales.

McDermott, Senior Vice President-Broadcast Markets for Media General. “Ron has been instrumental in driving significant revenue growth for us in the Albany market. He is a true broadcast professional, who has interacted with every department at the station to improve performance. I am confident that Ron is the right leader for WTEN and that he will help us achieve continued growth in ratings and revenue.”

Mr. Romines has served in his current position since 2005. WTEN maintains shared services and joint sales agreements with Shield Media, the owner of WXXA, the Fox affiliate in Albany. Mr. Romines started his career as an account executive in Jackson, MS, first at WDBD-TV and later WAPT-TV, where he was Local Sales Manager and then General Sales Manager. Mr. Romines additionally has held General Sales Manager positions at KOCO-TV, Oklahoma City, OK; WCCO-TV, Minneapolis, MN; and WJTV-TV, Jackson, MS. He received B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Mississippi College. He completed the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Training Program.
